LEDESMA Gives Free Hearing Aids to Manila Schoolchildren

In preparation for LACI’s 28th Anniversary on October 28, Dr. Nelly R. Ledesma, the first and only Filipino Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and the company distributed free hearing aids to deserving 7 to 15 year old students Manila Schoolchildrenfrom P. Gomez Elementary School, Bo. Obrero Elementary School, M. Hizon Elementary, p. Burgos Elementary School, Sta Ana Elementary School, Ramon Magsaysay Elementary School, Rizal Elementary School, and Legarda Elementary School with hearing impairment and who come from indigent families in the City of Manila. This serves as the company’s thanksgiving to God for the many years of serving the hearing impaired populace.

All hearing aids donated to the Manila schoolchildren were manufactured by Siemens Medical Instruments (SMI).

 The Ledesma Audiological Center Inc. (LACI), in cooperation with Mayor Lito Atienza of Manila, provided Manila schoolchildren with hearing disorders free hearing aids under the project Libreng Hearing Aid sa Batang Maynila.

Since the Memorandum of Agreement Signing on September 14, 2005, it took the Ledesma Team of Hearing Specialists a day short of a month to screen, test, and fit 50 Manila schoolchildren with brand new hearing aids. The awarding of hearing aids was held at the Bulwagang Katipunan at the Manila City Hall last October 13, 2005.
